The Ceremony!

Picture
Honestly, we haven't done a *ton* of planning for the ceremony part of the wedding.  We are keeping it very traditional, because we don't want it to seem like we aren't taking marriage seriously - we definitely are!  So we are mostly limiting our wackiness to the reception part of the day, and keeping this part serious.  We are getting married at a gorgeous Methodist church, at which I belonged to the youth group in high school.  I am Catholic, but we couldn't work out the logistics with the Catholic church, and honestly I spent more time at this church anyway.  Also, two of my bridesmaids (my two best friends from high school) happen to have Methodist preachers for fathers.  One of those two bridesmaids was planning to get married the same month as me, so I figured her dad would have plenty of other stuff going on and went with the other one!

Ceremony Music and Readings

We have decided to use all Billy Joel music for the ceremony (including lyrics from his song as a reading)!  We haven't yet worked things out with the church's music director, but we plan on having a pianist and perhaps another instrument performing the music.  Here is the tentative plan:
Groomsmen and groom entrance - Leave a Tender Moment Alone
Bridesmaid entrance - You're My Home
Bride entrance - She's Got a Way
During the ceremony (performed by friends) - Just the Way You Are
Reading - excerpt from the song 'Two Thousand Years'
Bridal party exit - The Longest Time
Congregation exit - Piano Man
